PATTERN DRAFTING & GARMENT MAKING
WEEK 1 - INTRODUCTION & PATTERN BLOCK MAKING
In our first class , my lecturer first explained regarding our module which was about what we will be learning throughout our semester . Later he went depth into our first lecture which was about what is pattern making . Then explained about fabrics and materials.
WHAT IS PATTERN MAKING ?
Pattern Making is Art. It is the art of manipulating and shaping a flat piece fabric to conform to one or more curves of human figure . Pattern making is a bridge function between design and production.
Pattern making is a process where designer or pattern maker transfer their design ideas from drawing into physical garment. This process is important to ensure designer achieve their desired outcome. Measurement of pattern and the way pattern define the fit of the garment.

PATTERN BLOCK MAKING
While this is my work , as I was pretty slow I was able to only do Size 12 and somehow I managed to complete my Master pattern for Bodice size 12 by the end of the class.
REFLECTION
Moreover , under our Taylors Moodle our lecturer informed our class to bring certain tools to start pattern drafting but unfortunately I could not bring those because that was my first ever class in university and I was way too lost , but I managed to borrow tools from my lecturer and started to do the pattern drafting for bodice and sleeve . Pattern drafting for bodice was little easier than the sleeve , however since it was our first class , I took my own time and did slowly and carefully as one mistake can ruin the entire drawing.
Later we did and almost completed the bodice block drawing for both size 10 and 12 and started to draw sleeve block for both sizes. Half of us couldn't finish the sleeves due to lack of time and was told to complete at home before next class, But somehow i was able to complete both .
Apart from assignments and deadline , class was extremely fun and I learned a lot of new things and I loved specially the sketching part except the calculations .
Most importantly , our lecturer was super cool and friendly so because of that I was able to learn and be more comfortable in my class .
